16. Villa Biancardi

16. Villa Biancardi

  • Address: Frazione Zorlesco Casalpusterlengo

Villa Biancardi was commissioned by Serafino Biancardi, on the area occupied by a pre-existing castle. The building works started in 1911 and the project was very probably assigned to Gino Coppedè. Villa Biancardi is in Liberty style and is characterised by the presence of a tall, elegant tower ending in an elegant viewing platform.

The external walls of the villa are plastered and, in the section corresponding to the ground floor, the graffiti decoration repeats the ashlar-work motif, present in the corner tower, while the frieze under the roof is painted in squares to resemble marble.
The main facade of the villa is characterised by a large portico with seven round arches.

Inside, the areas are rationally distributed and the private, official and service areas are well separated from each other.

The underlying theme of the interior decoration of the house, which changes from room to room, is given by the frieze painted with hunting scenes, a work attributed to Angelo Prada, a painter from Casalpusterlengo.

One of the most attractive areas of the villa is the one that includes the great stairs of honour, with three oak flights, totally built without supports.

Opening days: every Sunday from 15.30 to 18.30. (currently not open to visitors)
